91 applied sciences Subjects for each Year and Hours of Lecture First Year Quarter-past 11 on Mondays and Tuesdays during the Terra -Constructions in Plane Geometry to familiarise the Student with the use of his instruments practice in drawing elementary parts of buddings machines &c tinting and shading plane surfaces Second Year Quarter-past 10 Mondays and Tuesdays Elementary principles of Descriptive or Practical Solid Geometry as far as is essential to the Architect Engineer &c practice in Light and Shade extended to Solids and their Shadows and to curved surfaces Machine Drawing continued in more complicated examples Isometrical Projection forms part of the Course of this Year Third Year Quarter-past 10 Mondays and Tuesdays The principles and practice of Perspective Projection as it requisite to the Artist and Architect and to the Geographer in the construction of Maps The graphical solution of Problems requiring more advanced knowledge of the Geometry of Three Dimensions is taught to those requiring it In the practice of Machine-drawing &c the Student is allowed to take such examples as will be most useful to him in the other branches of his study and the Course is modi- tied to suit his previous attainments and proficiency according to which he may at once pass to that part of it for which he is prepared but certain extent of knowledge in Descriptive Geometry must be attained by all Candidates for Certificates of Approval or of Honour -Students of the third year may by application to the Dean have the privilege of attending the Class of Land- scape Drawing and Colouring as applied to Architectural Designs instead of the Class of Geometrical Drawing VIII Chemistry Hours From three to four daily except Saturdays during the Michaelmas and Lent Terms only for Students of the First and Second Years
