21 ANNUAL REPORT 1851 Departments together did not exceed the number which air now comprised in each Department separately had become too obvious to escape attention not to mention that the subject of the lectures could not be sufficiently adapted to the special wants of Junior Medical Students It has been there- fore resolved that the Divinity instruction for Students of the first and second year shall for the future be entrusted to the Chaplain and that regular hour shall be set apart in each week for his instruction and for written examinations in this subject Dr George Johnson having after seven years' diligent dis- charge of the duties of Medical Tutor resigned that office it has been conferred upon Dr William Brinton another highly distinguished Student of King's College and Senior Scholar in 1846 For the purpose of assisting Dr Brinton in the duties of the Demonstratorship of Anatomy Mr John Wood who was elected Junior Scholar in 1847 Second Year Scholar in 1848 and Senior Scholar in 1849 and Mr Henry Hyde Salter who was also elected Junior Scholar in 1847 have been appointed Assistant Demonstrators The Medical Officers having represented to the Council the urgent need which existed for the services of an Officer to be called the Registrar of the Anatomical Museum the Council have appointed Dr George Johnson to this office The duties of the Registrar will be to enter an account of every fresh preparation added to the Museum and history of the case which it illustrates and to give directions to the Curator as to the mode in which the several preparations are to be prepared In the Class of Chemistry various changes have been made new office viz the Curatorship of the Laboratory has been created The duties of the Curator will be to prepare the necessary apparatus and chemicals for the lecture of the Professor to act as Steward of the materials for experiments issued to the Students and to occupy himself in the prepara- tion of specimens for the Chemical portion of the Museum This appointment has been conferred upon Mr Thomas
