144 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The Examination Papers in Medicine and Surgery will comprise questions on cases which have occurred in the Wards of the Hospital during the Winter Session -Attendance on Course or Courses of Lectures on Botany or Chemistry by Pupil of the Department of General Literature and Science does not prevent such Pupil if he afterwards enter as Medical Student from competing for the Medical Scholarships with Students of the same stand- ing in the Medical Department as himself Daiucll srcfjolavsfnp This Scholarship has been founded in honour of the late Daniell Esq Professor of Chemistry in this College Its object is to encourage the prosecution of original research in Chemistry This Scholarship is of the annual value of 20 and is tenable for two years It is given every second year and is open to every Student of the College whether matriculated or occasional It is awarded to the Student who shall have executed the best series of researches in the Laboratory of King's College during the two years immediately preceding the election for six months of which time he must have been pupil in the Laboratory The next Scholarship will be awarded at Easter 18 72 The Papers of all Candidates must be placed in the hands of the Secretary by four o'clock on Wednesday March 31 1852 after which time no document will be received Section XII irpijfn 11t10tumn1t The Stephen prize for an English Kssay is open to all Matriculated Students of this Department See pp 75 and 82
