132 MEDICAL DEPARTMENT Section VI Course of Education recommended to the Medical Students by the Professors of King's College The Medical Professors of King's College sensible of the difficulties which beset the Student at the commencement of his career propose the following Course for his guidance in the prosecution of his studies The Professors strongly recommend that four years should be spent in attending the Course of Instruction at the College and Hospital Although period of three years is sufficient to complete the attendance on the Courses prescribed by the College of Surgeons and the Society of Apothecaries yet the Student will certainly derive great advantage from extending the term to four years and thus diminishing the number of Courses which he is required to attend in any one Session The following is the order in which Students intending to pursue their Medical studies during four years are advised to attend the several Courses of Lectures given in the College First Winter Session First Summer Session Second Winter Session Descriptive Anatomy Practical General Anatomy and Physiology jAnatomj Chemistry Botany and Vegetable Physiology Practical Chemistry Practical Pharmacy ί 'Descriptive Anatomy General Anatomy and Physiology Chemistry Practical Anatomy Practice of the Hospital and Clinical Lectures The regulations of the College of Surgeons require that Candidates should have been engaged four years in the acquirement of professional knowledge The London University requires that Candidates for the Degree of shall have been engaged the same length of time in the study of their profession The regulations of the University of London of the Society of Apothecaries and of the Medical Boards of the Army and Navy require Certificates of having practised the manipulations of Chemistry The regulations of the College of Surgeons require six months of Practical Pharmacy
