108 APPLIED SCIENCES The following are the necessary attainments for obtaining this Certificate In addition to the Certificates required and to the subjects for examination in Natural Philosophy Chemistry and Mathe- matics fixed for the Certificate of Approval an examination must be passed in the following Mathematical subjects Plane Trigonometry Chap VI Spherical Trigonometry Geometry of three Dimensions Differential Calculus Chaps Χ XI XII XIII XIV XV Integral Calculus And in addition to the Plans and Drawings before men- tioned- The Geometrical Constructions of Problems in Descri tive Geometry Drawings of the plan sections and cross sections of line of Railway or Canal with calculations of the cuttings and embankments required Section KING'S COLLEGE ENGINEERING SOCIETY In 1847 Society was formed under this title with the sauction of the Principal and Professors for the purpose taking in the various Engineering and Scientific Periodical of the day and of reading papers on scientific or practic subjects meeting of this Society is held weekly during Term fo the reading of papers and for discussions arising thereon subscription of 5s per Term paid in advance is paid by eve Student so long as he continues member The business of the Society is conducted by Committee of not less than six chosen from amongst the members
