applied sciences 99 his last instructor and when admitted by the Principal he must subscribe his name to Declaration that he will conform to all the Rules and Regulations which may from time to time be prescribed for the good government of the College under the sanction and authority of the Council Matricu- lated Students wear cap and gown and with the exception of the Daniell Scholarship which is open to all Students alone have the privilege of contending for Scholarships Occasional Students or those who being unable to attend the whole Course are desirous of studying any par- ticular subject Every Class is open to such Students on payment of the specified amount of fees The general age for admission into this Department is Sixteen and no one under this age is received except by the special permission of the Principal The full course of study which each Student is recommended to pursue carries him through three Academical Years The year consists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent rm from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the beginning of July At the beginning of every Term each Student must take his card of admission to the Dean to be countersigned and re- gistered There are Examinations at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms when the Students are classed according to pro- ficiency The Examination in June is followed by public Distribution of Prizes detailed Report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the Term The General Library is open daily to all Students for the purposes of study See Regulations page 217 limited number of Students are admitted to reside within the College see page 218 and some of the Gentlemen con- nected with this Department receive Students into their houses See page 221
