general literature and science 65 II department of General Utterature anti Science Section instruction given and by whom The Course of Education in this Department comprises the following Religious Instruction according to the principles of the United Church of England and Ireland by the Rev the Principal and the Rev Ε Plumptre Chaplain II The Greek and Latin Classics by the Rev Browne Professor and the Rev Brewer Lecturer III Mathematics by the Rev Hall Professor the Rev Cock and Τ Goodeve Esq Lecturers IV English Literature and Modern History by the Rev Maurice Professor and John Julius Stutzer Esq Lecturer Natural Philosophy The Rev Matthew O'Brien Professor Religious Instruction Lectures upon the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion are delivered every Wednesday Afternoon during the Academical Year by the Principal and on Saturday by the Chaplain in the Greek Testament There are also examinations every alternate week on the subjects treated of in the Lectures and in Text-books chosen by the Principal These Text-books for the Academical Year 1850-51 will be- For Third Year Students Butler's Analogy Second Blunt's Coincidences Junior Nicholls'Help to Reading the Bible Ε
