THE SCHOOL 179 In every class French forms part of the course German is taught to the three senior classes Drawing is taught on Wednesday afternoon as part of the regular course to the five Senior Classes only Pupils from any Class may however be permitted to learn drawing after School hours on Saturday but on no account will any boy not being in one of the five Senior Classes be permitted to attend on Wednesday Instruction is also given within the College in Italian Spanish Fencing and in Singing but these studies do not form part of the regular course Course of Six Elementary Lectures on some scientific sub- ject is given annually during the Easter Term to all the School by one of the Professors of King's College The Vacations consist of seven weeks in Summer one month at Christmas and five days at Easter Pupils will be expected to attend the School till the Vaca- tions commence and to return punctually when they close There is annually previous to the Summer Vacation public distribution of Prizes awarded by the Council Examinations for places in the Class for promotion and for Prizes take place at the end of every Term At the end of each month report on the progress con- duct and punctuality of each pupil is sent to his friends The duties of each day commence with prayers and the read- ing of the Scriptures in the College Chapel at which every Pupil must be present The Hours of Attendance are- Tuesday and Friday from o'clock to 3£ Monday Wednesday and Thursday ditto Saturday ditto 12£ Pupils irregular and unpunctual in their attendance or inattentive to their studies are detained till four o'clock under the charge of one of the Masters sufficient time at one o'clock is allowed for refreshment each day which is provided in the College at regulated
