MILITARY DEPARTMENT 173 At the beginning of every Term each Student must take his card of admission to the Professor of Military Science to be countersigned and registered There are Examinations at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms when the Students are classed according to pro- ficiency The Examination in June is followed by public Distribution of Prizes detailed Report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the Term The General Library is open daily to all Students for the purposes of study See Regulations page 206 limited number of Students are admitted to reside within the College see page 207 and some of the Gentlemen con- nected with this Department receive Students into their houses See page 210 Dinner is provided in the College Hall every day at Six o'clock for such Students as may wish to avail themselves of that accommodation See page 211 II Occasional Students The different Classes in this Department are likewise open to any Gentlemen whose occu- pations may not allow them to attend the whole of the Course but who may wish to avail themselves of the opportunity of studying any particular subject Separate Class for Officers of her Majesty's and the Honourable East India Company's Service has been established in connexion with this Department to afford instruction in Fortification Military Drawing and Surveying This Class has the benefit of Captain Walker's personal superintendence for an hour each day but the Drawing Room is open from 10 to
