the school 171 SUBJECTS FOR PRIZE VERSES AND ESSAYS 1850 Latin Alcaics -Auri sacra fames Latin Essay -Cari sunt parcntes cari liberi propinqui familiares sed omnes omnium caritates patria una complexa est English Essay -On the reign and character of Henry VII Greek Iambics -Translate Shakspcre Julius Caisar Act Sc from- Wherefore rejoice "- to the words Most exalted shores of all The Latin Verses must not be less than one hundred lines in length nor more than one hundred and fifty The Exercises must all be delivered to the Secretary of King's College before o'clock on Friday May 31 1850 after which hour no exercise will be received The Author is required to conceal his name and to distin- guish his Composition by some motto sending at the same time his name sealed up under cover bearing the same motto Section SCHOLARSHIPS The following Scholarships are given annually under the regulations annexed to each Good conduct and competent knowledge of such subjects in Divinity as shall be previously fixed upon are indispensable for the admission of any Student or Pupil to be candidate for Scholarship in this College Every Scholarship is held subject to forfeiture for mis- conduct In case there should be no candidate of sufficient merit in any year the Scholarship of that year will not be awarded
