MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 101 the Institution and when the necessities of the case are once fully laid before the public there can be little doubt that sum will be speedily realized which will permit the Committee of Governors to erect building suitable in all respects for the grand purposes to which it will be devoted The Medical Professors are fully aware of the lively interest which the Members of the Council of this College take in the progress of the Hospital and whilst acknowledging the benefits they have heretofore conferred thev earnestly solicit continuance of th cir collective and individual support to an Institution which they firmly believe will at no distant period be the pride and glory of the parent College The advantages of the Hospital to the Medical Department of the College can scarcely be overrated Since its establish- mcnt the number of Medical Pupils in the College has nearly trebled and the Professors feel assured that much of this success is attributable to the increased facilities for teaching thus placed at their disposal On such an occasion as this they feel it no less their pleasure than their duty to acknow- ledge the uniform courtesy of the gentlemen who form the Committee of Management both to themselves and to the Pupils who frequent the Hospital Every attention is paid to the wishes and wants of the Medical Oilicers and the welfare and accommodation of the Pupils is as zealously attended to as if the authorities within the College were themselves the presiding power About thirty of the Pupils of the College yearly fill the various ofiices of House Physician House Surgeon Dressers and Clinical Clerks in the Hospital In the selection and appointment of these young men the same regard is paid to moral character and rectitude of conduct which prevails in the College itself It is most gratifying to the Professors to hear of the success in life of many of those who have formerly been our Pupils From the earnestness with which testimonials from this College are sought by those who are candidates for public appointments we may reasonably conclude that the name of King's College is tower of strength" in the estimation of its Pupils
