82 APPLIED SCIENCES III -CERTIFICATES Certificates of two kinds are granted to Students of this Department Certificates of Approval -These may be obtained by every Student at the June Examination succeeding the completion of his Sixth Term The following is the outline of the necessary attainments for obtaining this Certificate Certificates must be obtained of regular attendance at Chapel and at the Divinity Lecture satisfactory examination must be passed in the subjects taught the preceding year in the Classes of Natural Philo- sophy and Chemistry satisfactory examination must be passed in the fol- lowing Mathematical subjects Euclid Books II III IV VI XL Hall's Algebra Chaps II III IV VI VII VIII IX and XII Hall's Plane Trigonometry Chaps 11 III IV Hall's Diiferential Calculus Chaps II III IV VI VI omitting Articles il to and G'J to the end of the Chapter Equations to the Conic Sections Drawings of the plan elevation and section of Machine accompanied by others showing the details of the Machine Plan of Line of Railway or of an Estate from field notes to be furnished by the Lecturer on Surveying with the contents of the several fields therein II Certificates of Honour -These are granted only at the end of the third year and to those whose studies have been pursued with distinguished success This term of three years maybe reduced to two years in the case of those Students who have previously passed two years either in King's College School or in one of the schools in union and who had reached the head class in such School before leaving it
