50 general literature and science II department of General literature ant Science The Course of Education in this Department comprises the following Religious Instruction according to the principles of the United Church of England and Ireland by tin Rev the Principal and the Rev Ε II Plumptre Chaplain II The Greek and Latin Classics by the Rev Browne Professor and the Rev Brew 11 Tutor III Mathematics by the Rev Hall Professor the Rev Cock and Τ Goodeve Esq Μ Tutors IV English Literature and Modern History oy the Rev Maurice and John Julius Sittzer Esq Religious Instruction Lectures upon the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion are delivered every Wednesday Afternoon during the Academical Year by the Principal and on Saturday by the Chaplain in the Greek Testament There are also examinations every alternate week on the subjects treated of in the Lectures ami in Text-books chosen by the Principal These Text-books for the Academical Year 1848-9 will be- For Third Year Students Butler's Analogy 11 Second Bluut's Coincidences Junior Nicholls' Help to Reading the Bible These Examination Papers are accurately looked over and system of marks indicating relative merit is established At the close of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms the Students
