THEOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT 43 Section IV PERIOD OF STUDY Persons already in Deacons' Orders desirous of preparing themselves as Candidates for Priests' Orders as well as Graduates of Oxford Cambridge and Durham will be ad- mitted to attend the Theological Course for such length of time as they may desire II In the case of all others the Course will be continued at the very least during six entire terms two years Section examinations-certificates Persons in Deacons' Orders and Graduates of Oxford Cambridge and Durham may on leaving the College have Certificate respecting the time of their attendance and the examinations they have passed II In the case of all others strict examination takes place at the close of their course of study before Board of Ex- aminers consisting of the Principal Professors and Lecturers of the Department and to all Students who have merited such distinction by their attainments and by their good character during the period of their studies in King's College the Principal is empowered by the Council to grant Cer- tificate of attainments and conduct which Certificate may be exhibited for the satisfaction of that Bishop to whom any Student may apply to be admitted as Candidate for Holy Orders The two Archbishops and twenty-three of the Bishops have consented to admit as Candidates for Holy Orders those Students who shall produce this Certificate The Council have distinctly provided that no Certificate can be given by the Principal to any Student who has not kept the full period of Six Terms and passed the final examination before the Board of Examiners The Board of Examiners will hold examinations for Certifi- cates at the close of each term until June 1850 but after tliis
