GENERAL LITERATURE AND SCIENCE 39 lated Students wear cap and gown and alone have the privilege of contending for all the Scholarships the Daniell Scholarship only excepted II Occasional Students or those who enter to one of more particular classes Every class is open to such Students on payment of the specified amount of fees Except by the special permission of the Principal no one is ad- rnitted Student of this Department under sixteen years of age The regular Course of Instruction in this Department carries the Student through three Academical Years Each Year con- sists of Three Terms viz Michaelmas Term from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas Lent Term from the middle of January to the week before Easter Easter Term from Easter to the beginning of July There is special Examination every year at Easter for all Students of Four Five and Six Terms standing and there are also examinations for all Students at the end of the Michaelmas and Easter Terms At these Examinations the Students are classed according to their proficiency The Examination in June is followed by public Distribution of Prizes detailed Report is sent at the end of each term to the parents or guardians of each Student both as to his progress and as to his general attention and good conduct during the Term Students who have pursued their studies in this Department with credit for three years who have been regular in their attendance at Chapel and at the Divinity Lectures and have also attended three extra Courses of Lectures are entitled to the Diploma of "Associate of King's College See 149 for the privileges of an Associate No Certificate of hav- ing attended the necessary Extra Course of Lectures" is considered available for this Diploma unless testifying to Student's attendance upon the particular study during one entire Course or during two complete Terms in cases where the Lectures are not given by Courses The term of three years above-mentioned is reduced to two years in the case of those Students who have previously passed two years either in King's
