annual report 1847 15 office of Lecturer in Divinity has likewise been conferred upon Mr Plumptre with the consent of the Lord Bishop of London as Diocesan and with the approval of His Grace the Arch- bishop of Canterbury as Visitor The Council beg to announce that they have instituted an Order of Honorary Fellows of King's College which is intended to comprise such Professors and Officers of the College as may have resigned their appointments and such former Students of the College as have obtained the highest distinctions at either of the Universities In the course of last year plan was suggested by Proprietor who had himself set the example for the conver- sion of Shares into Donations of the First Class The Council having thankfully adopted the suggestion took mea- sures for carrying it into execution according to legal form and they have now the satisfaction of stating that Proprietors holding 120 shares list of whom is appended to this Report have either wholly presented their Shares to the College or have converted them into Donations See 153 The contemplated additions to the building were completed during last summer The Hall of reception in which the General Court is now assembled the spacious and airy offices for the Secretary the commodious and well lighted Workshop for the Department of the Applied Sciences and the fitting up of the large room already alluded to for the School as well as of additional lecture-rooms for the College will be found it is hoped not only to give an appearance to the College suitable to its present position but to add very materially to its future efficiency The plan mentioned in the last Report for increasing the number of Students chiefly those of the Medical Department siding within the walls was for the time laid aside in conse- rence of the amount of the estimated cost but another ian is nowr under the consideration of the Council the design Λ which is to add twenty-eight new Sets of Rooms at an outlay not exceeding the funds which it is hoped will be provided by friends of the College interested in this object
