THE SCHOOL 127 These Scholarships can be held so long as Pupil remains in the School or so long as he pursues his studies at King's College or at either of the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge Any Pupil holding Junior Scholarship must resign the same in the event of his obtaining one of higher class All Pupils who have been two years in the School or in one of the Schools in union with King's College and who have attained the age of sixteen are entitled to stand for the Junior Scholarships in the Department of General Literature and Science and in the Department of the Applied Sciences such candidates however if successful must immediately matri- dilate at the College Scholarship obtained in the School is tenable with one in the College Candidates must give fourteen days' notice to the Head Master previously to the Examination No Pupil above nineteen years of age on the 1st of January preceding the Election will be allowed to stand for any Scholarship In seeking to ascertain for which Scholarship any particular Pupil may become candidate it is to be reinem- bered that the age and the number of Terms must be calcu- lated up to the 1st of January preceding the Election and Pupil will be considered for this Examination as belonging to the Class in which he was before the commencement of the Christmas holidays The next Examinations will take place on the Wednesday and Thursday in Easter week 1848 April 26 and April 27 The names of all Candidates must be delivered to the Head Master before o'clock on Wednesday April 12th alter which hour no name will be received The following will be the subjects for Examination FIRST CLASS SCHOLARSHIPS Classical Scholarship -Gospel of St Luke in Greek Eccle- siastical History Burton Sophocles CEd Col Thucydides Book VI Juvenal Sat 10 Tacitus Ann Lib
