Ill MEDICAL DEPARTMENT The College gives no particular rules as to the details of previous edaeation or the places at which it is to be obtained It will be obvious however from reference to the character and tent of the sUu 0T6 de T1 jed the manner in which the examinations are conducted and the mature age of the Candi- dates as afTording full time for acquiring the necessary knowledge that there will be ample security afforded to the public and the profession that none but those who have had liberal and learned education can presume with the slightest hope of success to otFer themselves for approval to the Censors' Board Section XVI ROYAX COLLEGE OF SURGEONS Candidates for the Diploma will be required in addition to certificate of being not less than twenty-one years of age to bring proof of having been engaged in the acquirement of professional knowledge for not less than four years during which period they must have studied Practical Pharmacy for six months and have attended one year ou the Practice of l'hysic and three years on the Practice of Surgery at recoguised Hospital or Hospitals in the United Kingdom three months being allowed for vacation in each year of having studied Anatomy and Physiology by attendance on Lectures and Dcmonstra- tions and by Dissections during three Winter Sessions of not less than six months each of having attended at least two Courses of Lectures on the Prin- plea and Practice of Surgery delivered iu two distinct periods or seasons and one Course ou each of the following subjects viz the Practice of Physic Che- mistry Materia Medica and Midwifery with Practical Instruction II Mem- bers and Licentiates in Surgery of any legally constituted College of Surgeons in tbe United Kingdom and Graduates in Surgery of any Uuiversity requiring residence to obtain Degrees will be admitted for Examination on producing their Diploma License or Degree together with proofs of being twenty-one years of age and of having been occupied at least four years the acquirement of professional knowledge III Graduates in Medicine of auy legally consti- tuted College or University requiring residence to obtain Decrees will be admitted for Examination on adducing together with their Diploma or Degree proof of having completed the Anatomic and Surgical Education required by the foregoing Regulations either at the School of the Uuiversity where they shall have graduated or at recognised School or Schools iu the United King- dom IV Certificates will not be received from Candidates for the hiploma who have studied in London unless they shall have registered their tickets at the College as required by the Regulations during the last ten days of January March and October in each year nor from Candidates who have studied else- where unless their names regularly appear in the Registers transmitted from their respective Schools
