MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 99 for such certificates must be made to the Secretary of the Hospital No Student shall receive certificate who has not attended regularly during the entire six months of his appointment nor shall any certificate be granted without the sanction of the medical officers under whom he has served Candidates are required to write fair and legible hand Out-Pal'ient Clinical Clerics -There shall be four Out-Patient Clinical Clerks two for the physician to out-patients and two for the physician accoucheur they shall he matriculated students and shall have diligently attended six months' medical prac- tice The examination shall be pass examination and shall be in anatomy of the viscera materia medica and the practice of medicine In the case of the physician accoucheur's clerks the practice of medicine required shall have relation chiefly to the diseases of women and children The examination in anatomy to be viva voce-in the other subjects written They shall serve for six months and shall attend regularly at the respective hours and on the days of the physician under whom they are appointed They shall register the out-patients under the direction of their respective physicians and take care that the dressing &c ordered by them is performed In the absence from illness of any Out-Patient Clinical Clerk his place shall be supplied by candidate who has passed the examination or failing any such by some student approved by the physicians In-Patient Clinical Clerks -There shall be four In-Patient Clinical Clerks two for each physician Candidates shall have attended six months' in-patient medical practice The examina- tion shall be viva voce and written the former in anatomy and morbid anatomy-the latter in materia medica and the prac- tice of medicine Candidates shall also take case or cases chosen by the physicians from patients in the house at the lime of examination The most proficient candidate shall be elected but in case of equality the preference shall be given to those who shall have served the office of Out-Patient Clinical
