THE CHARTER of Canterbury for the time being shall be Visitor of the said College with authority to do all those things which pertain to Visitors as often as to him shall seem meet That in addition to the perpetual Governors of the said College hereinbefore named our right trusty and right entirely beloved cousin the said John Henry Duke of Rutland our right trusty and right entirely beloved cousins and councillors Hugh Duke of Northumberland Knighl of the most noble order of the Garter and Arthur Duke of Wellington Knight of the most noble order of the Garter our right trusty and entirely beloved cousin John Marquess of Bute our right trusty and entirely beloved cousin and councillor John Jefferys Marquess Camden Knight of the most noble order of the arter our right trusty and entirely beloved cousin Frederick William Marquess of Bristol our right trusty and right well- beloved cousin John Earl Brownlow and our right trusty and well-beloved councillor Nicholas Baron Bexley and such persons to the number of eight but no more as shall from time to time hereafter be nominated in their stead in the manner hereinafter mentioned shall be Governors for life of the said College That there shall be Council of the said College con- sisting of the Governors for the time being the Treasurer for the time being and twenty-four other members of the Cor- poration And that subject and without prejudice to the powers given by this our Charter to the Visitor Governors and General Courts the Council for the time being shall have the entire management of and superintendence over the affairs concerns and property of the said College and in all cases unprovided for by this our Charter it shall be lawful for the Council to act in such manner as shall appear to them best calculated to promote the welfare of the said College Provided always that no person who is not member of the United Church of England and Ireland as by law established shall be competent to act as Governor by virtue of his office or to be nominated or act as Life Governor or be eligible as member of the Council or to fill any office in the
