THE SCHOOL Ν Β In seeking to ascertain for which Scholarship any particular Pupil may become candidate it is to be rem bercd that the age and the number of Terms must be ca cu- lated up to the 1st of January preceding the Election and Pupil will be considered for this Examination as belonging to the Class in which he was before the commencement of the Christmas holidays The next Examinations will take place on the Wednesday and Thursday in Easter week 1817 April and April The names of all Candidates must be delivered to the Head Masu before o'clock on Wednesday March 2lth after which hour no name will be received The following will be the subjects for Examination FIRST CLASS SCHOLARSHIPS Classical Scholars tip -Scripture History Paley's Evidences the Thirty-Nine Articles Eschylus Prometheus Vinetus Herodotus Book VII Virgil Georgics Book IV Cicero pro Μ done Preliminary Mathematical Examination -Euclid II III Arithmetic Algebra as far as Simple Equations Mathematical Scholarship -Divinity the same subjects as for the Classical Scholarship Euclid Algebra Trigono- metry Conic Sections Differential and Integral Calculus Practical Mechanics the Theory of the Steam Engine and the first three sections of Newton Preliminary Classical Examination Homer Iliad Book Γ Cicero de Seneetute SECOND CLASS SCHOLARSHIPS Classical Scholarship Scripture History from Genesis to the Books of Kings inclusive the Gospels the first sixteen Articles Euripides Medea Scriptores Roman Li Preliminary Mathematical Examination -First Hook of Eu did Arithmetic and the first four rules of Algebra Mathematical Scholarship -The first six Books of Euclid Algebr& and Plane Trigonometry Preliminary Classical Examination -Xenophon Anab Book Virgil JEn Book
